Elemental truth of life drives me. I am focused on the expression of the essentials–recreating the heart and force of the subject.
There is a great deal of interest for me in the intersection of human activity and nature, I am attuned to the interplay. I might study a passage through the woods or the edge of a farm field. Even grass in the crack of the sidewalk. Willfully it makes its way. How tenacious, nature.
My style is an abstraction of the figurative . I like color, volumetric shape, and graphic lines. While one may recognize the subject of my painting, through my work one discovers the spirit of it.
I like a picture to dance and I often think of a painting in mystical terms. So, I’m listening for the inspirational and I express it as a visual lyric. Life is a pulsating, vibrational riot. I snip cuts of this and serve it up.
I am also interested in DNA, gene expression, epigenetics, human evolution, and mathematics. Currently I’m focused on communication and fulfillment and the notion of a relationship between language expression and genetics.
